Community Development Initiatives
LEADS implements transformative programmes aimed at empowering marginalized communities, strengthening local institutions, promoting sustainable livelihoods and enhancing access to essential services across Jharkhand.
Rural Empowerment for Entitlement Realisation (REER)
The Rural Empowerment and Entitlement Realisation (REER) programme is operational in 85 villages across four districts of Jharkhand, including 25 villages each in Latehar, Simdega and West Singhbhum, along with 10 villages in Khunti. The initiative promotes a holistic development model for marginalized communities through improved engagement with government institutions and services.
The programme adopts an integrated approach by connecting community stakeholders such as Anganwadi Centres (AWC), School Management Committees (SMC), Gram Sabha members, Standing Committees, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and Model Farmers with government schemes. Through awareness generation, capacity building and community mobilization, the programme encourages entitlement realization and sustainable community-led development.
Social leaders are also nurtured from within communities to strengthen local governance and sustain service delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level.
Rural Access to Clean Energy (RACE)
Rural Access to Clean Energy (RACE) focuses on strengthening the organizational capacities of local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in the clean energy sector. The programme seeks to ensure access to Clean Energy Solutions (CES) for poor, vulnerable and marginalized communities through a rights-based approach.
The initiative also promotes the development of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem for clean energy solutions in rural Jharkhand. By building partnerships, creating awareness and enhancing institutional capacities, the programme contributes to sustainable and inclusive development.
The project is currently operational in Ranchi, Khunti, Simdega and Gumla districts and is supported by the European Union in partnership with LEADS.
Empowering Communities Through Sustainable Development
Both REER and RACE reflect LEADS’ commitment towards inclusive, participatory and sustainable development by strengthening grassroots institutions, enhancing community capacities and improving access to opportunities, entitlements and essential services.
